View Full Version : It seems like forever...

...since I was enveloped by the endless night. Why, back in high school I couldn't go 48 hours without being devoured by the vast evening, and here I am day after day and not so much as a nibble.
It's downright cruel I tell you. Back when, our relationship was like an all you can eat buffet of the soul *sigh*

The night devours me.
Like a cookie.

She fell right off the monkey bars.
You know, I heard that happened to someone once. What a hussy.

Too busy these days?
Evenings passing by in a blur?
Wondering where the time has gone?
Try asking your friends to set you up on a blind date.
Sometimes you click and the hours go by like minutes;
nights candles burn out too quickly, but..
usually time passes like
the procession of glaciers - agonizingly slowly.
It will seem like the evening is endless;
vast empty spaces of darkness and time open before you
like chasms unto the void as you wait for it to end.
Is that what you had in mind?

Not remotely sole brother.
Gabriel -
Maybe the Germans can help? I seem to remember Hölderlin saying offen die Fenster des Himmels / Und freigelassen der Nachtgeist and Rilke writing a screed of Gedichte an die Nacht.
And you may or may not recall Dudley Moore's La nuit, c'est l'ennui from Beyond the Fringe. (It was the one immediately before - or was it after? - Der Flabbergast.)
But, being forced to admit that a French kiss is one thing, a German kiss altogether another, I suppose there's always Ode to a Night (in gale)? Good luck, anyway. Regards / Dunc

It's Minnesota, and winter is coming. The night (though maybe not the night you long for) can't be far away.

They *say* they can make it my way, but they won't.
