This is a query cum clap on the back - I think! Do the mods really read every crit as well as every post? I have noticed that Howards's bite can be quickly followed by a gentle lick of help if he thinks that a subscriber is really interested in learning about poetry and not just showcasing. And Donner's bark can as easily be turned to acquiesence if she senses true intent. I have learnt more from three or four weeks at this site than from forty years of school-instigated poetry study resulting in endless "navel-gazing" as Howard so succintly puts it! I never intended to be such an a***hole ( as epitomised by my early posts) - but that was what we were taught was good poetry! Thank God (Howard!!!) I have now learned differently. Anyway, just wanted to say thanks to the mods who have made PFFA such an exceptional site. I'd been to a lot before I found PFFA and had glowing crits - yuk - I now realise how inadequate they, and my work, was.

Thanks a bunch - chocco-drops all round!

Chocolate always soothes the savage Donner.

It's all about purpose, isn't it?

I suppose the initial bite is a test/standard reaction. If Mod's spent all their time critting crap work seriously, they'd never have time to run the site.

I dunno about Chocco-drops, sounds to much like choc drops, the kind you give to dogs... but yeah, they aren't too bad, are they?

HI, Mike,

Chocco-drops does sound a bit doggy, doesn't it? It was my spelling attempt at abbreviating chocolate - choco looked as though it wanted to rhyme with choke so I went for a double 'c' and ended up with doggy-treats. Sorry, no offence intended!

You're right about the test - anyone who can withstand an initial bite from a mod and come back for more prob has a serious intent. Anyway, they do a grand job.
