FFMand has been having prblems staying logged in - he keeps being asked to log in again.
Anyone else having this problem?
If so, could you give your browser/system details, so I can see if there's a pattern?
thanks
Harry

Other key questions -
do you have your browser cookie-enabled?
do you have it set to automatically remember your login/password?

And who's your ISP?

:)
I have coookies enabled.
I am using IE6
Telus (my telephone co.) is my ISP
I have ADSL
I am automatically logged in.
My login difficulty takes the following form:
When I click to post a reply/quote/post new topic
and click in the message box to type. My cursor will not appear and no characters appear when I type.
To enter this message I had to click a smiley to be able to type at all!
This has been the case for 3 days now.
My 'puter works normally on all other BBs, eg. nanowrimo.org and futurenoir.com
any insights Harry?

Hmmm . . . Lets see if I have any issues with it. (IE 6.0, Win XP, small, local dial up server, cookie enabled and yes, I'm automatically logged in.)
Nope. No problems. I'm even editing this.
Interesting issue. I wonder what the cause is. Could it be the way that some browsers are or are not cacheing cookies?

Geoff,
I forwarded your email on to Béla, by the way. Hopefully he'll have some insights for you.

OK, OK, panic's over!
I deleted all my temp internet files, cookies, whatever,
and re-booted and my problem went away.
I can click my cursor into message/title/text boxes now without having to use a smilie to get there.
quoth the smilie, "Nevermore!"
"All are banished!"

:p
Damn! It's back.
The same problem as above.
The dialogue box on the login page where my username should go won't accept my cursor when I click on it.
I had to resort to editing this post, firstly by hitting the tab key on an area above the username box on the login page then proceeding to click a smiley into the message box. I still can't click on the "subject" box.
This is the case even after dumping cookies and re-booting, which means it's getting worse!
Is this the end of prokopton?
never to be seen again?
in case it is, I've enjoyed my time here.
goodbye all
'bye

Hi Prokopton,
Hope you got your cookies sorted out. You had asked if anyone was having similar problems. I'm not experiencing the attack of the smilies like you, but I was having constant login problems. I kept having to login, sometimes as little as every 10 mins because I had disabled my cookies. Had no choice but to disable them, so my boyfriend could use his own username on this site when he was here. I was losing threads I had typed replies to and all, so I put them back on and haven't had problems since.

i remember when i first started posting here and i saw some smilies and i put up a post asking how to do them. i believe i got told by quite a few people to, "PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DON'T ASK ABOUT THE SMILIES!"
this thread will drive everyone mad.

:(
No, sadly my login and posting difficulties persist.
It has been over a month now and
Only on PFFA!
1. I must click a smilie to get the cursor to show in the text message box.
- I cannot highlight anything on PFFA by dragging my cursor across text, say.
2. To type in the "title" box I click on the white space above the box, then tab key until the cursor appears.
3. To post a new thread, I can double-click on the title box until my handle 'prokopton" is prompted by the memory sub-routine but I can't type over it.
4. If I delete my temp i-net files and run my spybot and ad-aware then I can enter PFFA and make one post somewhat normally then I'm back to square one as above, like I am now.
5. I can post as normal in other BBs and use my e-mail no problem. It's just on PFFA.
Béla, please, I hope the planned incipient downtime will fix whatever demons plague me!
or maybe you have some insight that will sort me out personally.
Geoff
