Debi Zathan, one of the very best to post in pffa, has died (http://www.everypoet.org/pffa/showthread.php?s=&threadid=21858&poems).
By way of remembrance, I wonder if it's possible to comb the pffa forums and archives - I hope not everything was lost in the Great Renumbering of 2002 - and put all her posted poems together in their own forum here? (A start has already been made in the link above.)
She was THAT good. Regards / Dunc

I've compiled her poems, all that I could find and the most up-to-date I have. They should be up shortly. In the meantime, I've created a simply formatted page, in HTML, for people to view and print for their personal use (this has now been replaced with the permanent version in Picks of the Litter - Poems, which can be found here (http://www.everypoet.org/pffa/showthread.php?s=&threadid=21923&poems)).

Thanks for the link, Rachel.
Such great poems. What a loss!
I'll definitely print them and bind them into a book which I can read when I think of her and when I want to draw inspiration from her beautiful writing.

Thanks for the link. Thanks for the thread in WH too.
Are those poems in chronological order?
Any dates, exact or rough, that you can attach to the poems?

Because a number of these poems are on her Amp site, I have no dates for those. However, I can provide a date for the other poems. I'll have to go through again, though, so you'll have to wait a bit.

I've refrained from being more than just generally sad about Debi until I read "Notes for My Wake". And while I realize I am soft and easily moved, it was that kind of experience . . .
Darn it.
And right before going to work too.
Fine piece. Fine poet.
Thanks for the link Rachel.

The permanent version of Debi Zathan's tribute poetry page has been created in Picks of the Litter - Poems here (http://www.everypoet.org/pffa/showthread.php?s=&threadid=21923&poems). It's alphabetized and hyperlinked to each poem, and I've added as many dates of creation to each poem as I could.

Rachel –
This is an absolutely tremendous tribute you’ve assembled. The dedication exhibited in compiling Debi’s works into one thread clearly demonstrates the impact she had on your life and will provide us all with a one-click volume honoring one of the best to grace this board. What Debi meant to PFFA and its members can never be overstated, but now it can always be recalled.
Thank you, Rachel.
Thank you, Debi.

By the way, if anyone sees debi z online, it's her husband, so don't freak out.

Rachel -
You may have skipped the one Debi entered in the Ekphrastic contest (it doesn't seem to be included in your wonderful index). I know a number of people really appreciated this poem, so maybe you'd like to add it.
Millais' Ophelia
Where garland petals gather in the stream
floats a maid with eyes of bone-yard stone.
Her gray skirts weigh the current's sway,
palms raised in rigored resignation. Alone
she drowned amongst the dogwood blooms
in sight of willow, rush and felled red cedar,
where viola dares a coy display and wild iris
spites the sodden rose with spikes of royal color.
A child's lost treasure the lass could be, adrift
in the cold narrows of languid water, as nature
wantonly framed within the frame, earnestly leans
out to me and sighs, I could not dissuade her.
I'll really miss seeing Debi's fine work here; I always rushed to read her posts whenever I saw her name in the forums.

I did miss that one. Thanks. I'll see if it can be added to the thread in order; if not, I'll tack it on the end and hyperlink to it there.

For the purposes of citation, do you know what year Debi was born? - (xxxx - 2003) and so on?
Let alone where she was born and what her maiden name was?

I'm afraid not, Dunc. I know her full first name was Debulah (sp?). But I don't know her exact birth year or her maiden name. I know her family is located in Colorado, but I'm not sure if that was where she was born.

Many thanks, Rachel. Regards / Dunc
