Andrea has just guided me through Charon's and what a learning experience it has been. And what a privilege, too. It seems almost too good to be true that these people should give up their time and energy to help wannabees such as me. I cannot thank Andrea enough for her patience and guidance without which it would likely have been another five years before one of my poems was considered acceptable enough to be posted in High.
Thanks, Andrea, and thanks to whoever came up with the idea for Charon's.

That would be Julie Carter.

You're welcome, Ruth. I'm sure it was more a pleasure for me than it was for you. Nothing like Revision Hell to stand your hair on end, eh? Quite a few of us (http://www.everypoet.org/pffa/showthread.php?s=&threadid=9752&poems) have benefitted from that particular forum.

Julie gave me my first crit here and clued me in to what a wonderful place I'd stumbled upon. I had no idea she was the founding genius of Charon's, so now I'm doubly grateful to her.
And John Boddie is just plain brilliant, and if he ever disappears again I shall cry.
Charon's is a real gift to anyone who wants to improve their revision skills. We're insanely lucky to have it, and especially the critters who work there.

I agree with the general love-in, but I'd also like my obol to stand up and be counted (actually, I'd like to know if I'm waving the right Golden Bough, but never mind).
What I mean, is, what constructive things can us lucky Charon-dwellers do to 'put in to the pot' while we're being mentored in Charon? I've read the three crit-rule, and that's totally fine, but there must be something else we could do to make the process a little more balanced.
I know that, personally, I couldn't mentor (not even in General). It's one of those 'a little knowledge can be dangerous' things, and I suspect that most people used to the General CandC forums could fall victim to that, too. But I must be able to offer something in a generally helpful way, surely. Tea and sympathy? Guiding newbies to the blurbs? It'd be nice to have something I could contribute to, properly, while I'm taking so much out of pffa. So let me know if there's anything useful I'm qualified to do, please, and I'll do it.

You could always send money to Béla. (http://www.everypoet.org/)

That's a good idea. So long as he/she doesn't expect lots and lots of money.

And so long as I can guess my husband's paypal password. I'll get there eventually.
