hello people.

so i thought i knew something about criticism because i´ve studied it a bit, but in my short time here i´ve realized that defining a school is not the same as understanding it in an applied sense.

and so i´d like to ask that if anyone feels associated with a particular approach to criticism, they let me know, so that i can check out their critique posts and get a better idea of what things mean in practice.

or if you want to refer to someone else´s style of critique, and say that it´s referencing a certain body of thought, that works too.

thanks.

it´s 5 pm and the only thing i´ve consumed today is one cigarette.

Well, usually I would say look at the moderators' critiques, but that is difficult to do. Most of their posts are simply telling newbies to stop doing stupid things. Plus I think there are too many good ways to crit, and too many people who are great at critting.

So...

I'd say look at all those people in merciless. Some of those threads are pretty jam-packed with great crits.

Good luck!

Also, check out the top of General C&C or the Blurbs. General C&C has a great example of a good critique. The Blurbs has an entire section (in the index: look at the top) on people's styles of crits.
