I originally intended to post this as a response to MisplacedIntelligence's question about colleges with good reputations for their poetry programs, but the thread was moved Outside. It occurred to me, however, that a lot of people on this site are high-schoolers and might be wondering the same thing, so this information might be useful to someone else.
Anyway. UNC-Chapel Hill--which is a wonderful school by all accounts--instituted a scholarship three years ago named the Thomas Wolfe Scholarship. (Thomas Wolfe attended UNC-Chapel Hill.) The school offers a four-year full-ride to the winner of the scholarship. That's an incredible deal. The scholarship is young, hasn't been well-publicized (last year's winner was chosen from a pool of 100 or so applicants), and is well worth a look, if you're considering studying poetry or fiction in college.
