Hi, I'm Alex and I'm new around here. It said in the FAQ I should post here to introduce myself, so hence this post.
Other than that I never have a clue what to write in these things. I suppose a few things about myself: I'm 18 and currently doing my A level exams. My favourite poets are Blake and Tennyson. I am an occasional writer of poetry: I write when I feel the urge. Also, I distrust the opinions of everyone I've shown my poetry to, on the basis that they're being overly nice to me, so I'm here looking for real and constructive criticism.
Thank you.

Welcome to PFFA. You certainly won't get people being overly nice to you here.
Good luck with the A Levels.

Welcome to Pffa. This newbie forum is also a good place to post any opening questions you might have. But if you have read the FAQ and posting quidelines then I suspect you'll have it all sussed.
If you are looking for C&C then I suspect GeneralC&C would be the forum to start. Or maybe the Scansion Mansion, if that is the type of thing you write.
Regards,
Monk.

But if you have read the FAQ and posting quidelines then I suspect you'll have it all sussed.I've read them (well most of the important bits, anyway), but I'm still a bit vague on how to write and what to include in criticism. However, having read a basic guide I think I should be okay.
Thank you all.

Nope. There are certain poets who get name-checked a lot, and Tennyson's not one of them - the Victorians are rather unfashionable, if anything. So it makes a pleasant change.

Oh good. I do dispise most Victorian poetry, but Tennyson is special. What can I say I've been a sucker for Ulysses ever since I watched the TV show Babylon 5.Tho' much is taken, much abides; and tho'
We are not now that strength which in old days
Moved earth and heaven, that which we are, we are,--
One equal temper of heroic hearts,
Made weak by time and fate, but strong in will
To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield. It doesn't get much better than that.

Welcome to PFFA, Alex.
Death closes all: but something ere the end,
Some work of noble note, may yet be done,
Not unbecoming men that strove with Gods.
I enjoyed my A Levels immensely. All the best.

Hello Atanvarno
With a name like that, I wonder if you know Quenya.
In any case, welcome.
