Hi all,
I'm new here. I don't know if this has been done before. (If it has just point me in the right direction) I'd like to make some kind of comprehensive list of Poetry Contest Scams...you know the sort which accept ANYTHING (ie: List of ingredients, Shakespeare under a different name...) and charge the author for a copy of his/her published work.

There are a number of such lists; the second link in this thread (http://www.everypoet.org/pffa/showthread.php?s=&threadid=16722&poems) is one of the most extensive. There are other threads with other links in the "Blurbs of Wisdom" forum, listed at the bottom of the "Subject Index" thread.

There's already a thread in this section on the subject. What unique knowledge or insight do you bring to the effort? In what way will your collection be an improvement on lists that already exist?

You can also do a Google search for "poetry scams". I'm sure you'd get any number of hits to investigate.

None. Lock this thread. No reason to be so aggresive though, I was just asking....I'm a noob, what do you expect?

Might I interject a bit of perspective?
First, remember we're dealing with online communication here. Perceptions are a tricky thing when you don't have body language, facial expressions or voice inflections to go by. Perhaps John was simply asking a question. Perhaps he thought you were planning on posting a list that would be redundant. Perhaps I thought you were going to use such a list for your own personal reference purposes. See? It's best to take a step back before you post under an assumption which may not reflect the intention of the person/s who reply.
Second, we expect "noobs" to check out the site, look over the forums and read the informational threads before they jump in. For example, there is a search function at the top of the page. If you'd used that you would have found the answer to your question.
Third, when we see someone who uses their very first post to ask for help before they've taken the time to look up the information for themselves, we think "homework", something we don't do for people around here.
You'll do yourself a huge favor if you're not so touchy. Or was that just an assumption on my part? Heh.
