Ideally, it there any guideline to waiting to post in General C&C? Should I wait until I've posted a number of poems in General Poetry before moving on? I really want to improve my writing, and I feel C&C will be more beneficial, but obviously I don't want to break the forum rules!

There is no post-number requirement for admission to the "GC&C" forums. However, what you need to be aware of is that there is a critique-quality requirement, as this thread and the link it contains (http://www.everypoet.org/pffa/showthread.php?s=&threadid=21282&poems) makes clear. If, after you have posted a number of crits in the "GC&C" forums, the mods feel those crits aren't up to the minimum standards required, you could be redirected back to the "General" and "Chaos" forums until your critiquing skills improve.
Currently, I'm working on a "GC&C"-level practice critique thread which will be posted in "Transition Triage" when I get it finished; this thread will be intended to help new posters to the "GC&C" forums improve their critiquing skills so that they reach the level required in "GC&C." I hope to have that exercise thread posted in another couple of days.
