Hi there.
My name is Mab. This is officially my first post. I have been writing poetry for, oh let's see, about five days now. I've always been particular about the poetry I read. I'm down with Poe, Frost, um . . . Silverstein, and I'm particularly enjoying The Faerie Queen. Which makes want to give a Spenserish bent to my work, but I understand from the blurbs and stuff how that works, or doesn't work as the case may be.
I just came off of another site where I've posted some of my poetry amidst the wads of spewage passing for “art.” They do pretty much everything this site tells you not to do. And they all pat themselves on the back over it. I realized I wasn't going to get much helpful criticism on that end of the web. By the same token, I'll be careful what I post yet over here til I know how it goes. I'll throw out a few criticisms---I mean, um, carefully prepare a few well constructed criticisms, then offer up a short one for sacrifice.
Yes I have read all the "read this firsts." I know that this is a workshop for bettering your craft and there are bound to be harsh words directed at my brain child...s. I am so unbelievably amateur even my criticisms should be criticized. And hopefully we can mold me into a poet that will touch the core of humanity everywhere. Or at least give me something to do in the afternoons.
