Hey! My name is Rena, I'm Canadian and I love to write! I started writing stories when I was 7 and I wrote a book when I was 13 - 14, I'm almost 16 now! WOO HOO! Anyway, I love The Lord of the Rings and Tolkien is by far my favourite writer, he's like, my idol. I started writing poetry last year and over the year I've improved a lot and I came here to look to get better! A lot of my poetry is very depressing, but I'm no where near depression, I'm actually very happy....maybe....too happy lol....but no, I write poems like that when i feel that way so that I don't become depressed, my poems are like my diaries. It's awesome to be here! :)

I don't read a lot of stuff by famous poets, anything like that I find in my music and I like to read stuff by friends and things written by people on here and everything. But I do love Shel Silverstein! He has the funnest poems! :D

Hi, Hobbit Gal! I was recently accused right on this board of not liking hobbits, but it was a misunderstanding. I've read the book five times! (And LOTR twice.) I am a hobbit, though maybe a little taller than average.

Anyway, you really are going to have to read the famous poets at some point. I'd like to recommend the following collection as a good place to start, just to get an idea of what poetry can do:
