i too journal, I think of it as my incubator for ideas. The editing process for those pieces from the journal has proven quite valuable, in many ways. Not that it's easy, but we learn from failure too (hopefully) or we shouldn't be here.

Morbid, happy, playful, thoughtful...whatever the mood, 'round these parts all they seem to care about is the craft. So if maturin' is really what'cher lookin' fer, well pardner, welcome.

Good luck!

Hi,

And welcome to PFFA. You seem to know already that journal entries aren't poetry if you just artfully linebreak them. Work on writing material that you believe will engage the reader, and not just yourself, and read the Blurbs for tips on form and craft, and whatever other good books you can get your hands on. Then you'll be on your way to writing real poetry. It's a real challenge, but fun if you like hard brainwork. You may feel more comfy in the Teen, Depression, Despair and of Course Woe forums, and perhaps General.
