Great site....however..i failed to hit the newbie room first....This is my only gripe....if you are not a seasoned writer...but you think you are...how the hell are you supposed to know that!? I perceived myself as a fairly educated poet...however, a novice....upon entering, I viewed each forum and read the guidelines...Merciless...I knew I didn't belong there...high crit...I thought, well, maybe..I've been out of the writing game for 9 years, but in '95, I won National honors in poetry...okay, I can qualify for high crit....and if I was politely told that I couldn't- that woukld be fine...but damn! There's a kitchen fulla soup Nazis out there.....NO HIGH CRIT FOR YOU! The one that amazed me most: "Your work is NOWHERE NEAR the quality required for a high crit forum....gee thanks...what an eloquent way to direct me to a more appropriate board for my talentless nonsense... and as to the obligations..I thought I read that it is 3 crits per 1 post in each forum...is this incorrect? If I post one poem on the general forum....I cannot post another poem on any other forum...or is it per forum? From a most <ehem> inviting member in the general forum, who scolded me for posting to myself- which was unintended....I am supposed to crit in a different fashion than that stated in the guidelines? I know it's my fault for not lurking, i suppose, but WTF...I feel like the retard in kindergarten that all the bullies made fun of for putting his hat on upside down....so could someone please direct me to the forum for people who are intelligent and can handle tough critique, but are new and would like the same respect as the literary geniuses that insultingly welcome strangers on a daily basis....and I'm not whining...i'm just opinionative.....but i need appropriate guidance, and am more than willing to be directed to the appropriate forum.

Thank you for your time.

Well, if you string our rambling setneces together with strings of dots and use '!?' for emphasis, that's a bit of a clue.

You are whining, by the way.

OK, I've looked at the 1929 poem. GenC&C looks to be the appropriate place; which, curiously enough, is where Howard moved it.

You will, by the way, get plenty of tough critique there. The only question is whether you can provide crits of sufficient quality for other people. And, while I'm here, you currently owe 3 crits in GenC&C and 7 in General, so don't post any more poems until you've caught up.

Haha! gee....thanks for reiterating that...case and point....and thank you for correcting my grammatical errors as I think out loud...it is ridiculous for me not to put my momentary thoughts into a neat little final draft before asking a question...the lingering dots must make these thoughts of mine very hard to understand...come on already...that's really pushing it....ridiculous!

besides, when I went into the newbie stretching room, i believe it was list under a heading of "not really poetry". Didn't realize I had to grammar check before posting. But if my lingering dots anger you, i won't use them in front of you. I am quite sorry.

Check out the Pink Palace; there's a link at the top right hand corner of each page.

Try to read the Posting Guidelines.

Good luck.

"in '95, I won National honors in poetry...okay, I can qualify for high crit"

Gee, is it just barely possible that what received recognition at the public school level just isn't *gasp* up to the standards of a forum intended for the "more than moderately experienced"? Nah, couldn't be.

"if I was politely told that I couldn't- that woukld be fine...but damn! There's a kitchen fulla soup Nazis out there"

Learn to live with it. We aren't interested in your ego or your bruised feelings.

"I'm not whining"

Of course not. And I am Marie of Rumania.

"the lingering dots must make these thoughts of mine very hard to understand...come on already...that's really pushing it....ridiculous!"

Surprise--PFFA is a board devoted in its entirety to the correct use of language--whenever used. If you aren't up to the challenge of correct grammar on a consistent basis, go elsewhere.

You've gotten off to a poor start, and you're doing nothing to mitigate that situation. Get over your snit very quickly, while you still have the opportunity. Continue it much longer, and the choice will be taken out of your hands entirely.

Gary, I do appreciate your help in redirecting me, and your tone was helpful as well, as it contained no animosity. I believe I shall wander over to the pink palace, as you've suggested. Thank you kindly.:D

Howard, is your tone really neccesary?

Actually, I figure I am pretty much finished here anyway. I do apolgize for having an opinion. All I did was ask a question and I have been berated by almost everyone in power. Before coming here, I was informed by more than a few of the lack of respect to unseasoned poets, but I thought that I could receive some useful critique. However, it seems that I am receiving more sarcastic scolding than anything. It's a little surprising at first. I can get over it. I can offer critique to the best of my ability. I have no problem fulfilling critique obligations. I just would be interested in less barking, and more a mature tone when critiquing my person. My self has been critiqued more than my work. I will now head to the general section to fulfill my crit obligations, and will do so until I am either a.) caught up or b.) kicked out.

Once again, I am not here to offend. I had an issue and wanted to discuss it. This done, we'll take it from here.

And I will be more than happy to leave on my own, if asked.

Thank you for your time.

I know. Tasteless, isn't it? That's why I like to pour salt on mine before I eat them for lunch.

lol...I do enjoy a sense of humor. I'm sure I am quite bland myself, but I am here in hopes of perfecting the spice. Thanks for the chuckle, Donner!
